The $100.00 deposit required to hold space in a workshop should be paid as early as you are able to commit as all workshops have limited enrollment. Many workshops do sell out. Because of costs associated with studio supplies, administration and registration, if you receive a space this fee is non-refundable.
If a workshop is sold out before your deposit arrives, your can be placed on a waiting list and get preference if a space opens. You can move your deposit to another class, or I can return or destroy your payment.
Typically, workshop balances must be paid no later then 30 days prior to the start of a workshop and should be sent to the same address as your deposit. Balances are the total remainder of the workshop registration fee plus any materials fee plus New Mexico State Gross Receipts Tax. The tax rate in New Mexico is 6.625% of the total price, including any sudio or materials fee. Once your deposit is received, an email (or letter) will be sent detailing your balance.
Anything not covered by Registration or General Studio Fees, such as paper, can be gotten at the workshop and paid for on the final day of the workshop. Many of the items available at the workshop are well below market prices, including paper that is typically less than you would pay in 100 sheet lots with freight. Some, more esoteric items might not be discounted significantly because of the price MakingArtSafely pays. A tracking sheet is given to everyone to track any of these additional items. If a workshop specifies including most paper than the provided paper does not need to be tracked.
It is often far more convenient and safer to leave your prints behind to dry and have them shipped. For many, many years the fee for this service has held at $35.00 per shipping container, which hold apx. 25 - 22"x30" prints. Fuel charges make it necessary to raise the fee to $40.00 ( and yes, plus tax). FedEx ground is the included shipping service. Faster service can be arranged.
